(Still Alice) by Lisa Genova
Plot: Alice is a woman of 50 years with a present perfect. He has three adult children, a teaching position at Harvard that leads her to travel the world and lecturing in the most prestigious universities, a husband himself with a job at Harvard.
Everything suffers an attack that undermines this perfect balance when the daily small oversights reveal symptoms of Alzheimer's ...
The author: Lisa Genova graduated from Harvard in neuropsychiatry and is dedicated to the study of disorders such as depression, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
After writing this novel has tried in every way to get published, but he had hundreds of waste. Finally he decided to self-publish, then self-financing, and has had an extraordinary success. At that point, was taken into account by the publishers ...
Review: I decided to read this book without knowing what I went to meet (like most of the time: I do not like reading frames, or riassuntini back covers).
E 'from the first page that begins to form a suspicion, a suspicion that comes true when you goes well with the two titles (the Italian and the original - Still Alice).
This story is bad, too many times makes you fight the tears, every time Alice loses a piece. And if you have a family experience with the disease ... well, then you need to really prepare, because it is hard to read and agree to retrace some pathways ...
But Alice is a character so strong, so courageous that it seems to hope that she can win in the end. But it is not a fairy tale and there is no happy ending, even if the Genoa somehow we wanted to give that final light, and us readers to Alice herself.
Note (personal) on the cover: The cover attracts, and it seems very much in line with the covers of fantasy that there are around Nelg recent times. Perhaps the publisher has played a little ', in making this cover so fashionable, but I sense that the butterfly in the center, however, recall an important aspect of the novel.
(but this cover had not already seen elsewhere, but probably with different meaning?
here it HERE! !)
