Simple
talk about certain subjects can always be difficult and it takes finesse.
And Murail has been able to describe in this sweet story about Simple, boy 23 year old mentally retarded man, that even when he himself buckles the word idiot, we can only smile.
could have been a difficult novel if we had focused on the abandonment of the boy from his father, but it's nice that the author has focused instead on love of the teenage brother and all the people who end up living with Simple.
moves, makes you smile, feel good
Marie-Aude Murail is a well-known French writer in his country, performing a huge production that unfortunately here in Italy is never (or still?) arrived. And is addressed mainly to young people. He has written several series and has won day fantasy novels, and finally there are those who have come down to us in Italy: Oh, boy! Cecile, The future is for everyone and My Brother Simple.
What I love about this writer is his ability to deal with certain issues (in this case, mental retardation, in other cases, abortion or homosexuality) is not dramatically but solvable.
Literature should show a road, must set an example and does not need to paint a negative reality. And, finally, I can say that I love people who think so! Read
Simple, make friends with him and feel attracted to this person that maybe there would have generated interest in other contexts ...
and cheer for me as Murail and his novels!
